Loving your neighbour is the critical element here (2/2)
Moreover, those who were unable or have always been unwilling to provide such education for most (even for just a generation) and therefore seldom hit the jackpot, usually are ardent supporters for education to deviate from teaching ideals and are known to be constantly telling the young to be submissive to the dark side of our society.
It should be admitted that "teaching ideals" is not only about teaching the goals. Good education motivates students and equip them with good tools to achieve what they wish for. Students should be encouraged to do things creatively (which means they try out original solutions, not only doing what is already out there), challenge them to find more effective ways to do things rather than what they are used/told to do, and therefore not asking for unquestioned conformity to rules and traditions.
I agree that a lot of Hong Kong students were not priviledged enough to enjoy such high quality education (which is a luxury in the whole world), while I do consider the majority of those who remain in Hong Kong after finishing local education are not well-equipped with soft skills to execute creative projects effectively such that sad incidents have been repeating itself too much.
It is sad that Chinese culture has always stressed the well-being of one's family members over that of one's neighbours. Good education (the realized form of caring about your neighbours as your own family) will never become the mainstream in such an environment, even for one single generation, and will always make those who are able to get some (like me) the "isolated minority" from the mainstream, who believes that we should submit ourselves to "reality" and forget about "unattainable" ideals.
It must look like a sad joke for all of those who had received such style of education to hear that some actually seems to believe that "people cannot team up and co-operate without being controlled by an external organization". People have huge potentials. It is the ignorant society that ruins them. Loving your neighbour is the critical element for breaking away from the prison of ignorance.
